Hillbilly Degree

The Hillbilly Degree is a sideline Degree of the Shrine. Formed in 1969 by Nobel Jim Harris taking experience from his life in Harrisville, West Virginia (pop1,661).

Hillbillys are organized into Clans with outlying clubs bearing the title of Outhouses.

Members style themselves "Cousins" and admit ladies as well, (presumably as kissing Cousins).

Each years the Clans gather in Pikeville Kentucky for Hillbilly Days an event rivaled in attendance only by the Kentucky Derby.

The Hillbilly's charity of choice is the Shriner's Hospitals for Children.
